“Serving Beyond the Badge: Legitimate Performance on New Year’s Eve, Brewed with West Java’s Black Honey Coffee”

“In the midst of securing one of the busiest nights of the year, leadership reveals its truest form. On this New Year’s Eve, the Chief of West Java Police, Irjen Pol. Agung Budi Maryoto, alongside the Pangdam III Siliwangi, Mayjen TNI Doni Monardo, and the Governor of West Java, Ahmad Haryawan, step away from strategy briefings and into a different kind of duty.

They are not here to command from a distance. They are here to serve.

With their own hands, they brew Black Honey coffee—a specialty of West Java—and prepare to share it with the people who fill the streets in celebration. Alongside 4,000 packages of fried rice, 200 cups of this meticulously crafted coffee are distributed to the crowd.

This is legitimate performance in its most human form. It is the recognition that leadership is not merely about authority, but about presence. That security is not only enforced through protocol, but also strengthened through connection. In the simple act of brewing coffee and offering warmth on a cool night, these leaders demonstrate that their commitment to the people extends beyond the formal duties of office.

The coffee they serve carries its own legitimacy—a product of West Java’s rich coffee heritage, made with care and shared with generosity. And in that shared moment, between those who protect and those they protect, a different kind of trust is built. One that is not declared, but demonstrated.

As the clock strikes midnight and the new year begins, the image lingers: leaders who understand that legitimate performance is not measured by rank alone, but by the willingness to stand alongside the people, cup in hand, serving with integrity.”
